In keeping with Victoria ISD’s practices to respond to COVID-19, we are notifying all student families, staff, and the community that a staff member who was lab-confirmed to have COVID-19 was present on the Vickers Elementary School campus on September 25, 2020. Due to privacy requirements, we will not be releasing the name of the individual or details identifying him or her.

 

Contact tracing has begun. If it is determined the COVID-positive person had close contact with any students or staff, the identified students and staff will be directly notified no later than September 28, 2020, at 5:00 p.m. Those in close contact will remain off campus for up to 14 days to ensure they do not have the virus and to ensure that there will be no further spread. We will keep you apprised of further updates. Operations at Vickers Elementary School will continue as usual, and we will keep you apprised of further updates.

 

Any areas accessed by the COVID-positive person will be cleaned and disinfected according to CDC and TEA guidelines.

Operations at Stroman Middle School will continue as usual. We will keep you apprised of further updates. 

 

While we believe there is no reason to be concerned at this time, we ask that you, as always, watch for symptoms of COVID-19. Any of the following symptoms indicate a possible COVID-19 infection:

  • Temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher when taken by mouth;
  • Sore throat;
  • New uncontrolled cough causing difficulty breathing (or, for students with a chronic allergic/asthmatic cough, a change in their cough from baseline);
  • Diarrhea, vomiting, or abdominal pain; or
  • New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever.

 

If you or any member of the Stroman Middle School community does begin experiencing any of these symptoms in a way that is not typical, we encourage you to contact your physician. Anyone in the Stroman Middle School community who is lab-confirmed to have COVID-19 is also asked to please notify the school by calling 361-578-2711.
