The Sub-Committee established to review Teacher and Staff Compensation and Operational Needs are pleased to announce an invitation for community members to share their thoughts and provide input during five scheduled public hearings in the coming weeks.
This sub-committee, comprised of three trustees, Kathy Bell (District 1), Mandy Lingle (District 4), and Rick Jones (District 5), has been diligently working to strike a balance between employee compensation and the operational needs of the district.
Since its formation, the sub-committee has convened on four occasions to discuss and deliberate upon various aspects of employee compensation, teacher compensation, staff salaries, and the critical need for aligning these considerations with the overall operational requirements of the district.
“Using our data as a flashlight, we Trustees are on a journey to share VISD highlights, progress, and challenges and really understand what our parents and our community members feel are high priorities for our district moving forward,” said Trustee Lingle. “These meetings will allow us as a sub-committee to make more informed recommendations to the Board on decisions about the 2024-25 budget and long-range planning. They say it takes a village to raise children; therefore, we need you to attend a meeting and partner with VISD to make a positive impact on our children's futures.”
To provide transparency and foster community engagement, the sub-committee is excited to announce a series of public hearings that will be held in each trustee district within the Victoria ISD. These public hearings will provide an opportunity for community stakeholders, parents/guardians, teachers, staff members, and other interested parties to come together for a presentation of findings and the challenges faced by the sub-committee members. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback, ensuring that the process remains inclusive and responsive to the needs and concerns of our community.
