Victoria ISD’s dual credit program is experiencing remarkable growth, with enrollment and course offerings showing a steady and encouraging upward trend across both Victoria East and West High Schools.
From the 2022–23 to 2024–25 school years, dual credit enrollment has seen significant gains. At West, student enrollment jumped from 97 to 168, while East grew from 95 to 148. Together, the two campuses rose from 192 students in 2022–23 to 316 in 2024–25, a nearly 65 percent increase in dual credit enrollment. This fall, we increased by just over 100 students.
The expansion is not limited to student numbers. Course offerings also saw notable growth, particularly at VWHS, which more than doubled available courses from 34 to 56 in just two years. This expansion reflects the district’s commitment to giving students more access to rigorous, college-level opportunities close to home.
“These numbers reflect the impact of our ongoing efforts to remove barriers, expand access, and help every student graduate college- and career-ready,” said Superintendent of Schools Sheila Collazo. “Dual credit is one of the most powerful tools we have to ensure success after high school, giving our students a competitive advantage.”
Starting this fall, freshmen will have early access to dual credit courses, giving them a head start on college and career readiness. Through the Freshman 2 Freshman (F2F) opportunity, students will be enrolled in specially selected, face-to-face dual credit courses offered at VISD high school campuses. Best of all, this opportunity comes at no cost to families, making it easier than ever for students to begin earning college credit while still in high school. VISD anticipates continued growth and success through initiatives like the F2F opportunity, which reflects the district’s commitment to innovation and student achievement.
By starting earlier, VISD students will not only be better prepared for higher education but also have the opportunity to leave high school already well on their way toward a career or a college degree.
